More Nathan Pictures

We’re still here in the hospital today. Little Nathan has just decided he’s not hungry and won’t nurse. We’ve been trying every few hours, but still nothing. Our little boy just keeps looking up at us with an inquisitive look like “okay…now what?” each time Jennifer tries to nurse. It looks like we’ll be here one more day until Nathan starts eating. Then it will be back home.

In the meantime, here’s some more photos of our little one. Enjoy!

Welcome Nathan Jeremiah Pester

Our little one has arrived.  At 3:11PM after many solid and intense contractions, Nathan Jeremiah Pester entered into the world with some healthy lungs and big cries.  He weighed in at 9lbs and 10oz and is 20.25 inches long.  Mom and Baby are doing really well right now.  As I write this, Nathan is all snuggled into Jennifer snoozing away peacefully.  Even though Nathan is so big, there was no major complications with the labor.  Things progressed smoothly.  Thank you for the prayers!!!

Nathan…it means “God’s Gift”…it fits.  Our little boy is so precious and beautiful.  Thank you Lord.

I know y’all want some pictures.  Here are just a few.  I’ll be posting more as I can.  (click on them to make them bigger.)

Hello Nathan.  Welcome to our family!

Doc. Update - Gigantic Baby

We were back in the doctor’s office again this morning. Still no baby and no contractions that Jennifer can feel. Last week, the doc was worried about the level of fluid in the amniotic sac. Today we had an ultrasound and it turns out the fluid level is great. We did learn something else from the ultrasound however…OUR BABY IS GIGANTIC!!!

According to the measurements the technician took, our baby is somewhere between 10lbs 4 oz and 10lbs 10 oz right now. Yeah, I know…it’s HUGE! I feel so sorry for Jenn!!!

Unless things get moving along, the doc is going to have Jenn be induced on Wednesday morning. With as large as the baby is, he is going to keep a close eye on everything. The baby’s head and shoulders could be too big and a c-section might be necessary. Our chances for having one have gone up the doctor said. It all depends on how things progress when labor actually happens. Needless to say, we are in need of prayers over the next few days, so please be praying!!!

We did get to see Baby Pester moving around again today during the ultrasound. Here’s a pretty cool picture of the baby’s nose. The first one has words showing where the different parts are. The second picture is without the words. Click on each of them to make them larger. Enjoy! Thanks for praying!

Doctor’s Assessment

Yesterday morning, we were back in the doctor’s office again for baby.  Still no baby and 4 days past the due date.  Here’s the major updates from the doc…

  • Jenn’s still dilated to a 2.  No change really since last week.
  • There was some concern over the level of amniotic fluid in the sac.  We had a quick ultrasound to make sure there was enough, and the doc cleared us for at least a few more days to wait for labor to begin.
  • We head back early Monday morning for a more detailed ultrasound to once again check the fluid level and to see if there is any meconium present.
  • At the absolute latest, if there is still no labor, the doctor has will require us to induce labor next Wednesday.  We’re not too excited about it, but recognize the risks of letting the baby keep growing in there…

Anyways, prayers are appreciated.  Please be praying that the contractions would start soon and that little Baby Pester would enter the world before next Wednesday.  We’ll keep you updated as things progress!

Last Night’s Trip to the ER

Well, last night there was some excitement in the Pester household, but it wasn’t what we expected. We ended up traveling to see an ER doc, but no it wasn’t for the baby…it was for me.

If you wear soft contact lenses, maybe you’ve had the same problem I have. Occasionally, you itch your eye to scratch it and your contact goes crazy. Most of the time it folds and ends up lodged somewhere between your upper eyelid and eyeball. A mirror and some patience is required, but sooner or later you’re able to fish out the rogue contact. Just lift up the eyelid and start searching, eventually you’ll find it.

Well last night it happened to me again. However, when I went to look in the mirror for the rogue contact, it was nowhere to be found. I looked and looked under my eyelid, much to the detriment of my eye…talk about irritation! Still no contact though. It was time for reinforcements. I called in Jenn and my mom to start looking (yup, grandma’s here for the baby delivery!).

After about an hour of searching in my eye and on the floor for the rogue contact, we were getting worried. Could it have gone behind my eye? We decided it was time to go in. We didn’t want my eye to get infected or something worse. Luckily we know an ER doc in town, so we called him up and off we went to get it checked out.

Getting to the ER is kind of funny with a pregnant lady. Everyone in there freaked out that the baby was coming. We had to keep reassuring them it was not her but me that needed the help!

Anyways, after a few minutes of waiting, the doc went at it looking in my eye. Let’s just say massive numbing agent and a big Q-tip were involved. Yikes! All said and done though, he didn’t find the contact either. He reassured us that it couldn’t go behind my eye and just must have fallen out somewhere during the night. Off we went back home with some eye drops for the irritation…

So where is the rogue contact? Nobody knows. It’s like it vanished. We searched the floor of the house head-to-toe with no luck whatsoever. It’s really strange…

So yes, last night was crazy around the Pester household, but not at all what you would think with a pregnant lady four days past the due date. I wonder what the adventure will be today!

Missin’ the Due Date…

Well, it’s May 5th today. Still no baby yet. The due date was yesterday. I think either our baby missed the memo or is making some sort of fashionably late appearance. Either way, it’s kind of frustrating in the Pester household waiting. We want to meet this little one so badly, but still no contractions. All that’s happening is continued growth. I’m starting to wonder if a first grader will pop out when the labor day actually arrives!

Today’s the second day of week 40 for us. The doc won’t let us go too much into week 41 before he induces. We’re not very excited about the possibility of inducement (that Pitocin is some pretty nasty stuff we hear!). So please be praying that things get moving along here soon. Hopefully soon I’ll be posting pictures of Baby Pester on here to share with you!

Seeing Some Belly Kicks…

I’ve determined that our baby is rather feisty. Most people worry about their baby not being active enough. Ours? Well he/she is an active dancer. Pokes, jabs, punches, and kicks are commonplace in Jenn’s tummy.

This afternoon, the baby was once again putting on a kicking show for us. Instead of just telling you about it, I thought I’d grab the camera and share a little bit of it with you. (Thanks YouTube!) Jenn’s breathing is pretty rhythmic in the picture, so the few abnormal bulges you randomly see happen are the baby’s foot kicking around. Enjoy!
